Dear Friends:
AURA Chamber Choir Celebrates Its 35th Anniversary
Because of the generous support of friends and sponsors, AURA has celebrated each 5th anniversary with a gala concert including full orchestra and professional soloists. A 35th anniversary for an arts organization is a momentous occasion. AURA is planning a grand celebration of this occasion with the presentation of Mozart’s Grand Mass in C minor on April 12, 2014.
The choir and orchestra will be under the direction of Vernon’s Imant Raminsh, co-founder of AURA. In addition to his involvement with the choir, he is Principal 2nd violin with the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra and an internationally acclaimed composer. Please see our web site (https://aurachamberchoir.com) for full information on the director and choir .
The budget for a concert of this caliber is $26,000. We anticipate audience revenues and choir membership fees will cover some 44% of the total costs. The balance ($14,700) must be made up in the form of individual and business donations. The choir rarely appeals for general public support. Over its 35 year history, AURA has never incurred debts, a fact for which the choir is justifiably proud.
Our ability to perform major works with orchestra and professional soloists is dependent on the goodwill of our friends and supporters, which is why I am asking for your financial support of this gala concert. All donations will be acknowledged with a tax deductible receipt and acknowledgement in concert programs.
For your convenience you may make a donation by visiting our web site (https://aurachamberchoir.com) and clicking on the link to Canada Helps at the bottom right side of the screen. Alternatively, you can send your cheque payable to AURA Chamber Choir Society to Wayne Close 11709 Harper Drive, Vernon, BC V1B 1B9. (Donations of $500 or more will receive special acknowledgement. Please contact us at aurachoir@gmail.com to make these arrangements).
Music is the “voice of the human soul”. Your support of fine choral music will ensure that our children, and their children, will hear that voice and feel its influence. Music is one of the cultural influences that determines a high quality of life experience for a community.
Sincerely,
Wayne Close
