The Music Director selection committee has been hard at work over this smoky summer and is pleased to announce that two applicants have been chosen to conduct portions of the fall 2017 program. Once the repertoire is selected by our applicants, we will post the details…. in the meantime, please reserve November 18th or 19th at All Saints Anglican Church to hear AURA perform under these two fine musicians.
Our auditioning conductors are Tami Harker and Terrance Pitt-Brooke:
Tami Harker has a Bachelor of Music, UBC, and a Bachelor of Education, UBC. Her twenty years of conducting and teaching experience has included teaching music for 14 years at McRoberts High School, Richmond,B.C., building a choral program of five choirs including a boys choir that received gold standings in festival competitions. She organized a Musical Theatre program at Arts Umbrella on Granville Island. She conducted the Delta Community Choir for four years, building its membership and expanding its repertoire to include works of the masters. She started the Tapestry Young Adult Choir (auditioned chamber ensemble), and the Angelicus Children’s Choir in Delta. She has presented vocal workshops, and given private voice instruction for twenty years
Terrance Pitt-Brooke has a Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Education , UBC; Bachelor of Music, U of Toronto; Masters of Music (Choral Conducting) U of Wisconsin; currently completing his Doctorate at U of Arizona (choral and orchestral conducting).He has conducted selected works with the Erato Ensemble and Concord of Voices; and conducted a number of community and church choirs , longer term, in the Lower Mainland – i.e. North Shore Chorus, BC Tel Choir and Malaspina Choir of Naniamo. He has had shorter term conducting assignments at UBC, Vancouver Community College, the University of Wisconsin and the University of Arizon, and received numerous awards. He taught 12 years of high school music in Surrey, B.C., and a year in Vancouver. He sang several seasons in the Vancouver Chamber Choir (tenor).
The Spring 2018 program will feature the choral music of our founding director Imant Raminsh and will be conducted by him. Dates and repertoire will be confirmed soon.
