The Fall 2014 season

There is no better way to begin the Christmas season than to take in an AURA Christmas program. Many people have told us, this is the official start of Christmas for them!

The rehearsals have begun and already there are smiles on our faces as we begin to explore the repertoire for this season. The theme is “Alleluia” and the program will begin with Randall Thompson’s Alleluia, and will include a 1996 composition by our conductor, Imant Raminsh, titled Alleluia, Amen. These pieces will be followed by three more pieces on the theme by Handel, Beethoven and Roger Wagner.

A special treat will be the Alleluia composed this year by  Kelowna violinist and composer Sandra Wilmot. Sandra will be well known to Okanagan Symphony audiences as she has played with the Symphony for many years, in addition to working on her composing.

There will be four Christmas motets by Poulenc, some familiar European and American carols and two Christmas pieces by Vancouver based Canadian composers Ramona Luengen and Stephen Smith.

Mark your calendars for Friday November 28 at 7.30pm or Saturday November 29 at 2.00pm to enjoy this inspiring Christmas program. Ticket availability and concert location will be announced in early October.
